Elections will be held in August for At-Large Positions on USA Wrestling’s Board of Directors as well as positions on several standing committees of USA Wrestling.

These elections will be conducted during the 2012 USA Wrestling Board of Directors meeting in Colorado Springs, Colo., August 25th.

As in past years, nomination forms must be submitted for a person to nominate themselves or another USA Wrestling member to stand for election for these positions. However, this year, there is a possibility that there will be a change in the organization’s governance structure, based upon an important vote to be made by the Board of Directors.

In 2008, USA Wrestling President James Ravannack appointed an ad-hoc committee, chaired by Greg Strobel, to review the Board and committee structure of the organization. After extensive discussion and considerable input from all constituent groups of USA Wrestling, the ad-hoc committee will present proposed changes to the By-Laws which would adjust both the size and composition of the Board of Directors at the August 2012 meeting. The current members of the Board of Directors will vote on the proposed changes before the election is held.

The result of this vote on the proposed changes to the By-Laws will determine exactly how many positions will be available for the election for At-Large Members, as well as the length of the terms for some of the positions on the Standing Committees. Under the proposed By-Law changes, there would also be some requirements to be met in order to be eligible to be elected to an At-Large Board Member position.

Therefore, in order to have a valid election, candidates must identify if they wish to be considered for positions under two circumstances: (1) if the By-Laws are not changed, and (2) if the proposed By-Law changes are approved.

Below is a link to a nomination form. This document has applications for both circumstances, one form if there are no changes to the By-Laws and one form if the proposed By-Law changes are passed. In order to be considered for the election under either circumstance, a candidate or the member nominating a candidate must fill out both of these forms. Biographical information and supporting documentation do not need to be duplicated.

The deadline for receiving nominations for the election for At-Large Members of the Board of Directors and for Standing Committee Positions is Tuesday, July 31, 2012.

The complete directions about how to submit a nomination are included on the nomination forms.
