Tuma, Lucas, Rogers among FILA Cadet Nationals champions in Greco-Roman

AKRON, Ohio – Idaho’s Hayden Tuma earned a second straight trip to the FILA Cadet World Championships in Greco-Roman wrestling.

Tuma downed Colorado’s Geordan Martinez 1-0, 6-0 in the FILA Cadet National Finals at 63 kg/138.75 lbs. on Friday at the University of Akron Field House.

The champion in each FILA Cadet weight class qualifies to represent the United States at the 2012 FILA Cadet World Championships on Aug. 21-27 in Baku, Azerbaijan.

Florida’s Dylan Lucas also repeated as FILA Cadet Nationals champion. Lucas outlasted Idaho’s Blaine Invernon 5-2, 0-6, 1-1 in the finals at 58 kg/127.75 lbs.

Washington’s Chandler Rogers, whose brother Jordan won this event last year, recorded a quick fall in the finals. Rogers pinned Ohio’s Nick Corba in just 10 seconds at 76 kg/167.5 lbs.

Rogers was named Outstanding Wrestler.

FILA Cadets are athletes who are 15-17 years old.
