The winner of TheMat.com High School Wrestler of the Week is Justin Spates of Mt. Pleasant, Pa.
The winner of TheMat.com Junior Wrestler of the Week is Anthony Weber of Newberg, Ore.
The winner of TheMat.com International Wrestler of the Week is Frank Trigg (Noble, Okla./Sunkist Kids)
TheMat.com will announce Wrestlers of the Week in a number of age group levels, which will be posted on the web page and promoted to the national media.
High School Wrestler of the Week: Justin Spates, Mt. Pleasant, Pa.
Spates, a two-time state champion from Mt. Pleasant High School in Pennsylvania, defeated four-time Georgia state champion Chris Rodrigues, 3-2, at 119 pounds at the 26th annual Dapper Dan Wrestling Classic, held at the Univ. of Pittsburgh, March 25. Rodrigues was the Outstanding Wrestler of the 1999 Junior National Championships in freestyle. Both athletes are considered among the nation's top recruits. Spates' victory helped lead Pennsylania to a 34-12 victory over the United States in this annual high school senior all-star match. Spates is the son of Univ. of Oklahoma head coach Jack Spates.
Junior Wrestler of the Week: Anthony Weber, Newberg, Ore.
Weber claimed a double title at 154 pounds, and was named Outstanding Wrestler in freestyle, at the Northwest Junior Regional Championships in Corvallis, Ore., March 25-26. In the freestyle finals, Weber pinned Nathan Hordichok of Oregon in 2:31. In the Greco-Roman finals, Weber stopped Derek Weaver of Oregon, 12-4. The USA Wrestling Junior age division includes wrestlers in grades 9-12.
International Wrestler of the Week: Frank Trigg (Noble, Okla./Sunkist Kids)
Trigg claimed the 167.5-pound title in freestyle at the West Regional Olympic Trials, held in Corvallis, Ore., March 26. Trigg, who is not ranked on the national team, defeated No. 2 ranked Steve Marianetti (Champaign, Ill./New York AC) in the finals, 5-2. Marianetti was a member of the 1998 U.S. Freestyle World Team. With the victory, Trigg qualifies for the Challenge Tournament at the U.S. Olympic Wrestling Team Trials in Dallas, Texas, June 22-24.

It is being developed into the official web page of the Amateur Wrestling Alliance, which includes USA Wrestling, the National Wrestling Coaches Association and the National Wrestling Hall of Fame and Museum. The soft launch of the new page page is expected in April.
