The National Wrestling Coaches Association/USA Wrestling Kellogg's Scholastic Duals will be held April 7-8 at Kellogg Arena in Battle Creek, Mich.

The competition features many of the best 9th, 10th and 11th grade wrestlers in the nation, representing state-level teams. The athletes will be competing in scholastic-style wrestling. High school seniors are not eligible to compete in this event, which showcases the future stars of the sport.

The field is expected to grow to 16 teams this year, up from eight teams last season. There are expected to be two teams each from Ohio, Michigan, Illinois, Indiana and New Jersey. Other teams will include New York, Virginia, Colorado, South Dakota, Oregon and a New England all-star team.

This event has been organized by the National Wrestling Coaches Association Scholastic Division leadership, led by Gary Hartranft of Virginia Beach, Va., the Assistant to the Executive Director for Scholastic Affairs. All of the competitors will have USA Wrestling memberships.

Teams will compete in dual meets against each other over the two days of action. During the Championship finals on Saturday, April 8 at 8:00 p.m., final placement matches will be held from 1st through 10th place.

This competition is popular among the athletes, as they are able to test themselves against many of the other talented young wrestlers from other regions of the country. In addition, each team competes with intensity and pride for their state and region.

Dozens of state champion athletes will participate in the competition, along with many other state place winners. Among the notable multiple state champions on the preliminary rosters include three-time state champions Tom Clum of Colorado, Jeremiah Gingras of Vermont and Joe Moscovitz of New Hampshire. Two-time state champions expected to compete include Ben Cherrington of Colorado, Frank Sforza of Massachusetts, Matt Smith of New Hampshire, Mike Parziale of Massachusetts, Allyn Quibble of Connecticut, Mark Manchio of New Jersey and Ryan Maurer of New York.
