A women’s freestyle match has been added for the 2012 USA Wrestling National Team All-Star Dual Meet on Thursday, March 15 in St. Louis, Missouri.
The international-style event will held as part of the festivities at the 2012 NCAA Division I Wrestling Championships.
Competing at 59 kg/130 lbs. will be two nationally-ranked women freestyle wrestlers who wrestle for college programs in Missouri. Randi Beltz of Missouri Valley College will battle Shauna Isbell of Lindenwood University in the featured women’s bout.
Beltz, a native of St. Clair, Missouri, recently won a silver medal at the 2012 Pan American Championships. She placed third in the 2011 U.S. Open on the Senior level, and was sixth at the 2010 and 2012 U.S. Open. She was also a 2009 Pan American Junior champion.
Isbell, a native of Flagstaff, Arizona, won a gold medal at 130 pounds at the 2012 WCWA Women’s College National Championships. She was fifth in the 2011 U.S. Open, sixth in the 2009 U.S. Open and eighth in the 2012 U.S. Open on the Senior level.
The event will be held between the first and second competition sessions on Thursday. It will be located at the Peabody Opera House, which is adjacent to Scottrade Center. The approximate start time will be at 3 p.m.
This is the third straight year that a USA Wrestling exhibition will be provided free of charge.
The other five matches, including four men’s freestyle matches and one men’s Greco-Roman match, were announced earlier this week.
The USA Wrestling All-Star Dual has become a traditional part of the NCAA Championships each year.
This event will serve as a tune-up competition for the athletes prior to the 2012 U.S. Olympic Team Trials for Wrestling, which will be hosted at Carver-Hawkeye Arena at the University of Iowa in Iowa City, Iowa, April 21-22.
USA Wrestling will also participate at the NCAA Fan Festival with National Team practice sessions, which are open to the public.
