USA Wrestling is excited to announce that the 2012 NJ Drive of Champions will be held at the Trump National Golf Club in Bedminster, N.J. on Monday, June 4.

The NJ Drive of Champions is a golf outing that benefits USA Wrestling, featuring several members of the 2012 U.S. Olympic Wrestling Team, with the legendary Randy Couture as its Honorary Chairman. USA Wrestling President Jim Ravannack and Local Community Leaders Doug Kimmelman and James Downs will serve as Honorary Co-Chairmen.

It is being billed as the biggest benefit golf outing in the history of American wrestling. The 2012 NJ Drive of Champions will offer foursomes or singles for the golf outing.

Patrons can also choose to only attend the post-golf outing dinner with members of the 2012 U.S. Olympic Wrestling Team. The dinner will feature a wrestling exhibition allowing selected athletes to display certain amazing demonstrations rarely seen but certain to be appreciated.

Serving as the event’s Honorary Chairman and attending the function will be Randy “The Natural” Couture. Couture thinks of himself a wrestler first, but is widely recognized as the most prolific UFC fighter in history. He has also established himself as an action film star. Most recently, Couture was featured as “Toll Road,” a demolitions expert in the cast of the Sylvester Stallone directed action film The Expendables.

Wrestling fans remember Couture’s successful mat career. He gained national prominence as a member of the U.S. Army wrestling team. In college, he was an NCAA runner-up for Oklahoma State. He developed into one of the nation’s best Greco-Roman wrestlers, competing at the World Championships for USA Wrestling and winning a number of national titles and international honors.

Couture was excited to participate as Honorary Chairman of the Drive of Champions.

“It isn’t often that I can pass forward what the sport of wrestling has done for me. I know there are a lot of people, just like me, that want to support USA Wrestling. As the Honorary Chairman of the Event, I’d like to invite you to join me. Show your support for wrestling, enjoy a spectacular day of golf and hospitality and get to know some of the world’s greatest athletes on the 2012 U.S. Olympic Wrestling Team at the 2012 NJ Drive of Champions on June 4th,” said Couture.

Trump National Golf Club-Bedminster is rated among the top 100 golf courses in the world. Outings at Trump National Bedminster are memorable and not just because of the award-winning golf courses! Following events, rave reviews continue for the delicious food, stunning presentations and world-class hospitality. Outstanding overnight accommodations are available for out-of-town guests.

What the patrons of The Drive of Champions will witness during the wrestling exhibition will not resemble a traditional wrestling competition. USA Wrestling’s Director of Development Larry Nugent believes that people will appreciate the Olympic wrestlers display in this unique setting.

“It isn’t always evident by watching a high-level wrestling match how athletic a World-Class wrestler is,” said Nugent. “In addition to phenomenal endurance, a wrestler must have an incredible kinesthetic sense, with the ability to not only be aware of and control their own movements, but that of their opponents as well. This wrestling exhibition will take a wrestling to a higher form that few other athletes can execute. Our athletes plan to isolate some physical characteristics, in ways that are sure to excite the crowd.”
