In conjunction with the 2012 USA Olympic Trials, in Iowa City, Iowa, USA Wrestling is offering a Silver Level Coaches College to its member coaches, April 18-20.  The Silver College is a requirement for coaches wanting to achieve Silver Certification.  From Wednesday, April 18th - Friday, April 20th, coaches from across the country will learn the latest innovations for coaching the sport of wrestling.  

The Silver College will include on-the-mat instruction from USA World Team and National Team coaches.  There will also be sessions focusing on several aspects of wrestling, which include philosophies both on and off the mat in building future champions.

“We are going to have a great turnout for this Silver College,” said USA Wrestling’s Manager of the National Coaches Education Program, Cody Bickley. “Especially with the line-up we have coming and it being at Carver-Hawkeye Arena. We have a lot of interest and we definitely encourage coaches to jump on board A.S.A.P.”

Included on the agenda are USA Wrestling’s National Team coaches, Zeke Jones (freestyle), Steve Fraser (Greco-Roman), and Terry Steiner (women’s freestyle). Jones was a World Champion and Olympic medalist and Fraser was an Olympic Champion. Other national coaches include Bill Zadick (freestyle), Brandon Slay (freestyle), and Ike Anderson (Greco-Roman) will appear. Slay was a 2000 Olympic Champion and Anderson a 1988 Olympian while Zadick was a 2006 World Champion.

Among other instructors are three-time World Champion Lee Kemp, two-time World Champion Terry Brands and respected coaches Mark Reiland, Mike Duroe, Mike Hagerty and Mark Hull. 

In addition to the Silver College instruction, all participants will receive a general admission ticket for all sessions of the 2012 USA Wrestling Olympic Trials.  This is a great opportunity for fans and coaches to see up close the best wrestlers in the United States compete for the right to wrestle at the 2012 Olympic Games in London, England.

All Silver College participants will receive credit towards Silver Certification, a USA Wrestling polo shirt, an all session general admission ticket to the Olympic Trials, and a DVD set of all clinic sessions.  The cost of the Silver College is $350.  Coaches need to register by April 6, 2012.

Detailed information will be sent to the coaches following receipt of their registration.
The Olympic Trials will follow the Silver College, with weigh-ins on April 20th and competition April 21st-22nd.  Please visit www.usawrestlingevents.com for more information on the Olympic Trials.
