SHIVER WINS MAJOR AWARDS AT U.S. DEAF GRECO-ROMAN NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS 
   Brent Shiver of Washington, D.C. was named Outstanding Wrestler at the U.S. Deaf National Greco-Roman Wrestling Championships, held at the Las Vegas Convention Center in Las Vegas, Nev., April 19.   
 Shiver claimed the 167.5-pound title, defeating Jeff Courtney of Fairmont, W.Va. in the gold-medal finals, 8-3. Shiver also claimed the Most Falls Award, pinning two opponents in 2:31. Shiver is a former Div. I competitor for Northwestern University.   
 Also claiming a gold medal was former Deaf World Champion Matt Hamill of Largo, Fla., the 213.75-pound champion. Hamill won two matches, including a 4-0 decision over runner-up K. Dzougouton of Arlington, Va. Hamill is a former Div. III National Champion from R.I.T.   
 Other individual champions included Albert Sachs of Petaluma, Calif. at 119 pounds, Tariber Tabolov of Russia at 138.75 pounds, Toselli Silvestri of Washington, D.C. at 152 pounds, Vincent Silvestri at 187.25 pounds and Teddie Barnett of Paola, Kan. at 286 pounds.   
 It is the first time that the U.S. Deaf Nationals has been held alongside USA Wrestling's National Championships, which be held in Las Vegas, April 21-22. The freestyle competition for the U.S. Deaf Nationals will be held on April 20, with the gold-medal matches being on Saturday, April 22.
