Pan American Wrestling Championships set for U.S. Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs, Colo., Feb. 24-26

The Pan American Wrestling Championships are slated for the U.S. Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs, Colo., Feb. 24-26. The event will be held in the upstairs gymnasium in Sports Center II.

The Pan American Wrestling Championships is the annual continental championship for North, South and Central America in the three Olympic styles – men’s freestyle, Greco-Roman and women’s freestyle.

The event will feature at least 15 teams from the Pan American nations: Argentina, Brazil, Canada, Columbia, Cuba, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Panama, Peru, Puerto Rico, United States and Venezuela. 

The tournament will feature numerous athletes who have won medals at Olympic, World Championships and Pan American competitions in the past. A release on the U.S. lineup as well as a list of international entries will be released next week.

There will be gold-medal finals all three nights of the event, with Greco-Roman on Friday, Feb. 24, women’s freestyle on Saturday, Feb. 25 and men’s freestyle on Sunday, Feb. 26.

The last time the U.S. hosted the Pan American Championships was in 2008 in Colorado Springs, Colo. The Pan American Wrestling Championships were also held in Colorado Springs in 1989 and 1990.

All sessions, adult (ages 19 and older) tickets are $25 and an adult one day ticket is $15. A youth ticket is $15 for all sessions and $10 for a single day. Children under the age of 5 are free.

6:00 p.m. - 6:30 p.m. - Opening Ceremony
6:30 p.m. - 8:30 p.m. - Session II: Greco-Roman finals

Saturday, February 25
12:00 noon - 5:00 p.m. - Session I: Women's Freestyle qualification rounds
6:00 p.m -8:00 p.m. - Session II: Women's Freestyle finals

Sunday, February 26
12:00 noon -5:00 p.m. - Session I: Men's Freestyle qualification rounds
6:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. - Session II: Men's Freestyle finals
