Top U.S. Olympic hopefuls to compete on seven international tours in February

Top U.S. Olympic wrestling hopefuls in all three Olympic styles will compete in seven international competitions during February.

These tours will help prepare the wrestlers for the major events of the 2012 season, including the 2012 U.S. Olympic Team Trials for Wrestling in Iowa City, Iowa, April 21-22.

There will be four men’s freestyle competitions, two Greco-Roman competitions and one women’s freestyle competition which will be attended by U.S. wrestlers.

Freestyle Team USA will be taking tours to the following international events:
• Yasar Dogu International, Ankara, Turkey, Feb. 10-12
• Vladimir Semenov International, Khanty-Mansiysk, Russia, February 17-19
• Outstanding Ukrainian Memorial International, Kiev, Ukraine, Feb. 15-16
• Cerro Pelado International, Havana, Cuba, Feb. 14-15

Among the star freestyle wrestlers who will be taking tours are 2011 World Champion Jordan Burroughs (to Cuba), 2009 World bronze medalist Tervel Dlagnev (to Cuba) and 2008 Olympian Steve Mocco (to Turkey and Ukraine). 

Greco-Roman Team USA will be taking tours to the following international events:
• Hungarian Grand Prix, Szombathely, Hungary, Feb. 11-12
• Granma Cup, Havana, Cuba, Feb. 12-13

Among the star Greco-Roman wrestlers who will be taking tours are 2005 World bronze medalist Justin Ruiz (to Cuba) and 2008 Olympian Spenser Mango (to Hungary).

Women’s Team USA will be attending the following international event
• Klippan Lady Open, Klippan, Sweden, Feb. 18-19

2011 World bronze medalist Adeline Gray will be competing in Sweden.
