BRISTOL, Tenn. – Led by six champions and three runners-up, Oklahoma City won its fourth straight WCWA Women’s College Nationals title with a dominant effort at King College on Saturday.

Two of the champions for the Stars won their third career WCWA title, seniors Michaela Hutchison at 123 pounds and Brittany Delgado at 191 pounds.

Hutchison, a four-time WCWA finalist, defeated freshman Sarah Hildebrandt of King College, 2-1, 1-0 in the finals.

Delgado hit a headlock and pinned Hillary Greening of Simon Fraser in 1:49 for the title. Greening is a former WCWA champion, winning two years ago.

Capturing her second straight WCWA title was senior Kristie Davis, who pinned Sydney Nelson of the Cumberlands in 56 seconds in the finals. Davis is a two-time World champion and nine-time World medalist who went back to college later in her career.

Other individual champions for the Stars were Emily Webster (101), Joey Miller (109) and Jennifer Page (143).

Page, a freshman, defeated 2011 Junior World bronze medalist Alli Ragan of King in an intense final, 3-1, 3-2. Page had defeated Ragan at the National Duals earlier in the month, after Ragan had won their earlier matchups.

OCU coach Archie Randall was voted Coach of the Year by his peers.

“Very seldom do you have a team wrestle as hard as they did,” said Randall. “It’s amazing. Each team is different. It’s different because it’s a different group of kids. It will be special to me and special for them. It’s pretty exciting. Not too shabby.”

There were 14 spots in the U.S. Olympic Team Trials up for grabs. The top two U.S. wrestlers at 108, 123, 136 and 155 qualified for the Trials, along with the champions in the other six weight classes.

Host King College placed a strong second, led by individual champions senior Emily Martin (109) and freshman Krista Revelle (136). King was fourth last year, a strong improvement for the third-year program coached by Jason Moorman.

Martin was named WCWA Wrestler of the Year for a strong season where she dominated her college competition. She stopped Kristi Garr of Oklahoma City in the finals, 3-2, 6-0.

Revelle, a freshman who joined King in the second semester, stopped Stephanie Geltmacher of Oklahoma City in the finals, 3-0, 3-0.

Last year’s runner-up Simon Fraser placed third this year, followed by Lindenwood in fourth and the Univ. of the Cumberlands in fifth.

Winning a title for Simon Fraser was 170-pounder Justina Distasio who pinned Kendra Lewis of Lindenwood in the second period of their finals bout, 1-0, 0:56.

Lindenwood also had an individual champion at 130 pounds, Shauna Isbell, who stopped Audrey Morehouse of Oklahoma City in a razor-close finals, 0-1, 1-0, 1-0.

The tournament continued its impressive growth, with 15 teams in the field and 144 individual entries.

It was announced that King College will host the event again in 2013.
