The USA Wrestling Men’s FILA Junior National Championships will be hosted at the Alliant Energy Center of Dane County in Madison, Wis., April 13-15. This event features the nation’s best 17-20 year old men wrestlers in the Olympic styles of freestyle and Greco-Roman. The event annually showcases many of the nation’s best college underclassmen as well as top high school wrestling talents. The event hosts are Wisconsin USA Wrestling and the Madison Area Sports Commission. The tournament had been hosted in Cleveland, Ohio the last two years. “USA Wrestling is excited to host its Men’s FILA Junior Nationals in Madison. This is one of our most popular and important age-group national events, and will showcase young athletes who may go on to become future World and Olympic team members. We look forward to working with the Wisconsin wrestling community to conduct an outstanding event,†said Pete Isais, USA Wrestling National Events Director. This is the first time that the event will be hosted in Madison and the second time in the state of Wisconsin. In 1986, the Men’s FILA Junior Greco-Roman Nationals were hosted in LaCrosse, Wis. The top six placewinners from the FILA Junior Nationals in Madison qualify for the 2012 FILA Junior World Team Trials, set for Colorado Springs, Colo., May 25-26. This year’s FILA Junior World Championships will be held in Pattaya, Thailand, Sept. 4-9. Competition will be held in the eight FILA Junior International weight classes, plus three additional weight classes added for this event.
