International team rosters announced for Kiki Cup in Colorado Springs Colo., January 28

This Saturday’s Kiki Cup will feature four international teams participating in Greco-Roman dual meet at the U.S Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs, Colo. The teams competing include Italy, India, Spain and a mixed international team made up India, Greece and Slovenia. The international teams will compete against four different teams from the United States.

The Indian team includes 2010 third place finisher Anil Kumar competing at 60 kg/132 lbs. and Manoj Kumar at 84 kg/ 185 lbs., both past World Team members.  Also competing for India are 2011 World Team members Ashok Kumar at 96 kg/211.5 lbs. and Pal Rishi at 120 kg/264.5 lbs., with Ashok finishing second and Rishi placing third at the Commonwealth Championships in 2011.

The Italian team is led by Rocco Daniele Ficara at 120 kg/264 lbs., a 2010 World Team member and 2003 World Team member  Riccardo Magni, competing at 66 kg/145.5 lbs. Also wrestling for Italy are 2011 World Team members Frederico Manea at 55 kg/121 lbs., Vicenzo Marci at 66 kg/154.5 lbs. and Saverio Scaramuzzi at 74 kg/163 lbs. 

Headlining the mixed international team is Georgios Koutsioubas at 96 kg/211.5 lbs. and Xenofon Koutsioubas at 120 kg/264.5 lbs. Both wrestlers are 2011 World Team members with Georgios placing second at the World University Championships in 2008 and second and third at the Junior World Championships in 2000 and 2001. Xenofon took third at the World Military Championships in 2007 and placed third at the European Championships in 2003. Also competing for the mixed international team is Slovenia’s Jure Kuhar, a 2011 World Team member. 

Competing for Spain are several 2011 World Team members including Joaquin Martinez at 55 kg/121 lbs., Pedro Garcia at 84 kg/185 lbs. and Ismael Navarro and Albert Baghymyan both competing at 60 kg/132 lbs.  

The four U.S. teams were announced last week. Among those competing are 2002 World Champion Dremiel Byers (Colorado Springs, Colo.) at 120 kg/264.5 lbs. and 2005 World bronze medalist Justin Ruiz (Orem, Utah/New York AC) at 96 kg/211.5 lbs. 2008 Olympian and three time World Team member Spenser Mango (Colorado Springs, Colo./U.S. Army) at 55 kg/121 lbs. will also be wrestling for Team USA.

The event will be webcast live on The Mat.com starting at 9:00 a.m. There will be eight rounds of competition throughout the day with the final dual meets starting at 5:00 p.m.
