Wyoming Amateur Wrestling Association is saddened to announce the passing of Abby Chamberlain.
Abby lost her battle to cancer at the age of 57, passing away at her home in Mountain View, Wyoming during the early morning hours on January 14.
Abby served the state association for about thirty years as a Board Member and Wyoming's Membership/Registration Director. As a licensed pairer Abby traveled with her family to countless local, state, regional, and national tournaments. She also served as a pairing clinician and mentor for many Wyoming pairing officials.
Her unique laughter was easily recognized, and her loud cheering at matside was the norm. Abby was also an avid supporter of little league, softball, and dog sled racing. She easily made friends with every one she met.
Abby befriended every wrestler, their siblings, their parents, their coaches, and referees and pairing officials from all over the country. She has been involved with wrestling for as long as many old timers can remember, supporting and cheering for her two sons Aaron and Brian and their coach Dare, her husband of 33 years.
In 1991 Abby received the Wyoming Governor's Award for the outstanding Adult Volunteer. In 1996, she received the Andy McWilliams outstanding volunteer award at Rocky Mountain Regionals at the University of Wyoming in Laramie, Wyoming.
