Legends of Gold Regional Training Center in South Dakota to help develop future wrestling Olympians

Terry Pack, the former NJCAA College Coach of the year and Mike Mena the former 4X All American and Iowa Hawkeye star have a wealth of youth, high school, college and national team coaching experience. They now enjoy the honor to serve and positively impact wrestlers from youth level to the Olympic level through the certification as a regional training center by USA Wrestling.

The Legends of Gold National Training Center is based out of Beresford South Dakota; the certification allows Olympic hopefuls of any age group to train in Beresford to compete in world-class international competitions. 

“USA Wrestling is proud to add Legends of Gold to this important program,” said USA Wrestling National Teams Director Mitch Hull. “Regional Training Centers allow us to develop the sport across the nation. They tie these outstanding local and university programs to our Olympic effort.”

This unique site contains two dormitories, 40 acres of space with outdoor basketball courts, sand volleyball, cafeteria and a new weight facility under construction currently for more training opportunities.
As a Certified Regional Training Center, Legends of Gold can have a profound impact in trying to grow wrestling at all levels. LOG receives more credibility and versatility in what they can do as it pertains to sport and athletic training in the Olympic quest.

Moreover, the certification demonstrates LOG has big plans for the future. LOG is going to be more equipped to serve the local, regional and national student athletes achieve their goals while helping up and coming Olympic hopefuls.

As a Partnership with USA Wrestling, Legends of Gold supports a broader goal to help the U.S. in international competitions. Legends of Gold provides the training opportunity for Olympic hopefuls wanting to compete for world and Olympic teams as a collective effort toward strengthening Americas wrestling overall at every level.

Additionally, Legends of Gold generates efforts to recognize top talent coming up through the youth level. Currently more than 60 wrestlers train weekly on site and nearly 200 with satellite facilities.

Legends of Gold was approved through an application process in order to receive the status including having USA Wrestling-Certified Coaches in the Program. This allows Legends of Gold to work closely with USA Wrestling, as well as its coaches which work at the United States Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs, Colo.

Legends of Gold becomes one of only 16 sites throughout the nation currently recognized as an official USA Wrestling Regional Training Center.

Coaches Pack and Mena have a tremendous wealth of coaching expertise, as well as experience in the Olympic styles of wrestling.
