JAKE CLARK HONORED AS THEMAT.COM WRESTLER OF THE WEEK OF MAY 8-14 

TheMat.com has named its National Wrestlers of the Week for May 8-14, 2000.

The winner of TheMat.com FILA Junior/University Wrestler of the Week is Jake Clark, Quantico, Va. (U.S. Marines)

TheMat.com will announce Wrestlers of the Week in a number of age group levels, which will be posted on the web page and promoted to the national media.

Clark won the gold medal at 187.25 pounds in Greco-Roman at the USA Wrestling FILA Junior Nationals/World Team Trials, held in Lincoln, Neb., May 11-14. Clark won three matches on the way to the title, including two technical falls and a pin. In the finals, he stopped Justin Millard of the New York AC by technical fall, 10-0. He also claimed a bronze medal at 187.25 pounds in freestyle wrestling with a 5-1 record. He received the Most Falls award in freestyle with three pins in a combined 7:52. Clark beat Carl Fronhofer of PWC in the bronze-medal match by pin in 5:45. Clark is originally from South St. Paul, Minn.
