Jim Zalesky signs with ASICS

ASICS is proud to introduce a new ASICS Advisory Staff member to its existing elite group of wrestling leaders who are committed to inspire today's wrestling athletes. 

ASICS is the official equipment sponsor of USA Wrestling, its National Teams and the Junior National Championships.

Jim Zalesky, the head wrestling coach at the University of Iowa, has been named as the newest member of the ASICS Advisory Staff. Zalesky has served as head coach for the Univ. of Iowa for three years, and has won the NCAA Div. I team title all three years. During his term, the Hawkeyes compiled a 44-7 record, with six NCAA individual champions, 10 Big Ten champions, 17 All-Americans. He was named 2000 Big Ten Coach of the Year, and also received national coaching awards from W.I.N magazine and the National Wrestling Coaches Association.

As an athlete, Zalesky won three NCAA Div. I national titles for the Univ. of Iowa. He served assistant coaching stints at the Univ. of Iowa and the Univ. of Minnesota.

Zalesky joins an all-star staff of wrestling giants on the ASICS Advisory Staff, including Olympic Champions Dan Gable, Bruce Baumgartner, Tom Brands and Kevin Jackson. World Champions on the ASICS Advisory Staff include Les Gutches, Sammie Henson, Terry Brands, Stephen Neal and Dennis Hall. Olympic silver medalist Matt Ghaffari is on the staff, along with NCAA Div. I coaches Bobby Douglas and J Robinson.
