Membership is now open for the 2011-12 season in the National Wrestling Media Association. You can click the Join NWMA Tab under the “About the NWMA†heading at http://www.nationalwrestlingmedia.com. Annual member dues are $25.
The NWMA has redesigned its web presence and added a lot of tips and helpful hints for Sports Information/Media Relations professionals this year as well as freelancers looking for writing/broadcasting opportunities.
Registration is available via PayPal at the Join link or by printing off the membership application and mailing the form and your dues to the NWMA. Currently you can get a one-year account on the Join NWMA section, but we have longer term membership options as well.
If you’re interested in such, contact Jason Bryant at jbryant@usawrestling.org to find out how to get a longer term for a discounted rate.
One of the newest goals for the NWMA is revamping its presence. Several sections have been created specifically for members and the NWMA hopes those sections will be useful.
The NWMA, founded in 1989, wants to ensure media members are getting the feedback, advice and information that will help them not just cover the sport, but cover the sport well. The NWMA seeks to be a voice for the wrestling media.
Officers are always ready and willing to take your questions. One of the core goals is to make sure the media within wrestling is always on top of topics relevant to broadcasting, journalism and promotion.
One perk the NWMA would like to let potential members know about is aimed at journalists and sports information professionals. The ability to have a vehicle to post your content to the College Wrestling Network.
The CWN is a web-based widget posted on dozens of wrestling websites nationwide. Your content can be seen by a broader audience with the inclusion into the CWN.
There are also relevant sections for audio and video interviews within the CWN.

Active members can vote annually on the NWMA Awards, which include Broadcaster of the Year, Print Journalist of the Year, Publication of the Year, Publicist/SID of the Year, Website of the Year and Photographer of the Year. There is also a semi-annual award based on merit which falls under the Special Awards category.
If you know someone who might be interested in joining the association, please forward this along. This includes local writers and writers at your campus newspapers, too.
If you have any questions, feel free contact NMWA President Jason Bryant at jbryant@usawrestling.org
National sites, photography sites, wrestling blogs, video and broadcasting outlets, state-specific outlets, sports information professionals are all invited to join.
