BURNABY, B.C., Canada – Two U.S. wrestlers have reached the finals in an Olympic weight class in the women’s freestyle division at the Hargobind International on Friday.

The finals of the four Olympic weight classes will be contested on Saturday in Surrey, B.C., Canada, along with the men’s freestyle finals.

Earning a spot in the finals are Ali Bernard (New Ulm, Minn./Gator WC) at 72 kg/158.5 lbs. and Victoria Anthony (Huntington Beach, Calif./New York AC) at 48 kg/105.5 lbs.

Bernard, a 2011 World bronze medalist and 2008 Olympian, will face Leah Callahan of Canada in the gold-medal finals. Bernard won her bout on Friday by pin.

Anthony, a two-time Junior World champion, will face Ashley McKilligan of Canada in the finals on Saturday. Anthony won three matches on Friday, including an impressive technical fall over 2010 U.S. World Team member Alyssa Lampe (Colorado Springs, Colo./Sunkist Kids) in the semifinals by technical fall, 7-1, 6-0.

Except for the finals in the four Olympic weights which will be held tomorrow, the rest of the tournament was completed today. That includes all of the matches in the non-Olympic weights, plus the bronze medal bouts in the four Olympic weights.

The U.S. had a pair of bronze medalists, Whitney Conder (Colorado Springs, Colo./Gator WC) at 48 kg/105.5 lbs. and Leigh Jaynes Leigh Jaynes, Colorado Springs, Colo. (New York AC) at 55 kg/121 lbs. Both lost their opening bouts, then won the rest of their consolation matches to bring home the bronze.

Conder, a 2011 U.S. World Team member at 51 kg, defeated Rathi of India, 2-0, 2-0 in the bronze-medal round.

Jaynes, a 2007 U.S. World Team member at 59 kg, pinned two-time U.S. World Team member Kelsey Campbell (Colorado Springs, Colo./Sunkist Kids) in 1:46 in the bronze-medal match.
