TIRANA, Albania – Terrell Harris of Chicago, Ill. won a silver medal on the final day of the Veterans Freestyle World Championships on Sunday.

Competing in Div. G. at 76 kg, Harris lost a very close match in the finals to Aldibirov of Russia , 0-1, 0-3.

The other two U.S. competitors on Sunday, both competing in Div. A, dropped an early match and were eliminated when their opponents failed to reach the finals.

Competing at 85 kg, Alvin Riggs of Lowell, Ore. lost by fall to Belasi of Iran.

Competing at 97 kg, Octavius Bellamy of River Forest, Ill. dropped a tight three-period bout to Singh of India, 0-1, 1-0, 0-1.

Coach Dan Chaid has reported that FILA awarded a gold medal to Jon Tush of Maplewood, N.J. at 74 kg in Div. B.

Tush was the only competitor at 74 kg and moved up to 85 kg in order to get competition on Saturday. He was defeated and did not medal in that division. FILA recognized his weigh-in and awarded him the gold at his original weight class.

That brings the total of gold medalists for Team USA up to five. The champions during the three-day event were:
• Jamey Kasser of Lewis Center, Ohio at 63 kg in Div. C
• Brad Swartz of Auburn, Wash. at 76 kg in Div. D.
• Shirzad Ahmadi of Coventry, Conn. at 63 kg in Div. D.
• Anthony Piva of Meridian, Idaho at 58 kg in Div. B.
• Jon Tush of Maplewood, N.J. at 74 kg in Div. B.

Team USA just missed out on winning a team trophy, which are awarded to the top three scoring teams. The team champion was Russia, with Turkey in second and Germany in third. 

Coach Dan Chaid indicated that Team USA was very close to making the podium as a team based upon success all three days.
