Based upon the results of the 2011 World Championships in Istanbul, Turkey, the first 108 spots in the 2012 London Olympic Games for wrestling have been allotted.
The top six wrestlers from each of the 18 Olympic weight classes in Istanbul have qualified their nation to compete in London at that weight class.
Please note that the competitors only qualify their nation’s to participate in that weight class at the Olympic Games. Each National Olympic Committee will select their participant to compete in London in each of the qualifying spots.

There are three more phases of Olympic Games qualifications.
Phase II are the continental qualifying tournaments, where the top two athletes in each Olympic weight class will qualify their nations. Nations may only enter athletes in weight classes which they have not yet qualified. There will be four of these events, which are Europe, Asia, Pan American and Oceania/Africa. A total of 144 spots in the Olympic Games will be determined in this phase.
The Pan American Olympic Qualifying event will be in Orlando, Fla., March 23-25.
Phase III is the first international Olympic qualifying event, set for Taiyuan, China, April 25-29. The top three male and two female place winners at the Olympic weights will qualify. All nations may enter this event. Nations may only enter athletes in weight classes which they have not yet qualified. A total of 50 spots in the Olympic Games will be determined in this phase.
Phase IV is the second Olympic qualifying event, set for Helsinki, Finland, May 2-6. The top two male and two female place winners at the Olympic weights will qualify. All nations may enter this event. Nations may only enter athletes in weight classes which they have not yet qualified. A total of 36 spots in the Olympic Games will be determined in this phase.
There are 344 spots for wrestling at the 2012 London Olympics. A total of 338 will be determined through the qualifying events. There are three additional spots allocated for the host nation Great Britain, if they don’t qualify athletes through the qualifying system. Three other positions will be determined by the Tripartite Commission. If Great Britain does not need any of their spots, these will be assigned by Tripartite Commission.
