U.S. women Maroulis, Campbell, Pirozhkova receive draws for World Championships on Thursday

ISTANBUL, Turkey – Three more U.S. women wrestlers have weighed in and received their draws for the World Wrestling Championships on Thursday.
Among the U.S. entries is 2010 World silver medalist Elena Pirozhkova (Colorado Springs, Colo./Gator WC), who will battle Sandra Roa of Colombia in her opening bout.
Roa won the 2004 Pan American Championships, and has won six career Pan American medals. She was a 2006 Junior World champion, with her highest Senior World placement being fifth in 2007.
Pirozhkova is competing in her fourth straight World Championships. She also boasts two World University Championships gold medals.
Competing in her second Senior World Championships is Helen Maroulis (Rockville, Md./New York AC) who opens her competition against Aiym Abdilina of Kazakhstan.
Abdilina was fifth in the 2010 World Championships, and won a bronze medal at the 2010 Asian Games.
Maroulis is a three-time Junior World medalist, including a silver medal in 2011. In her first Senior World Championships, Maroulis placed eighth in the 2008 World Championships at 51 kg/112.25 lbs.
Also competing in her second World Championships is Kelsey Campbell (Colorado Springs, Colo./Sunkist Kids) at 59 kg/130 lbs. Campbell will wrestle Agata Pietryzyk of Poland in the opening round.
Pietryzk is a two-time World medalist at this weight class, winning a silver medal in 2009 and a bronze medal in 2008.
Campbell placed fifth in the 2010 World Championships in her first time at this event.
