Dollamur has donated a revolutionary new tapeless wrestling mat, which was donated to a USA Wrestling state association through a drawing.

Each of USA Wrestling’s state associations were eligible to have their coaches enter the drawing during a Dollamur social held during the ASICS/Vaughan Junior and Cadet National Championships in Fargo, N.D. in July.

USA Wrestling – Ohio won the drawing, which was announced during the ASICS Junior Freestyle Nationals in the FARGODOME. One of their Team Ohio coaches, Ray McDonald, was the person whose entry was chosen.

The mat is called the Flexi-Connect. The first one produced in the Dollamur factory in Fort Worth, Texas was shipped to Fargo, and was used on Mat One, the raised center mat all week in Fargo. This blue and white mat with the USA Wrestling logo was given to USA Wrestling Ohio once the ASICS Junior and Cadet Nationals ended.

“We did this because of our commitment to the wrestling community and our partnership with USA Wrestling,” said Dave Miller, Dollamur’s National Sales Manager. “We have an 11 year relationship with USA Wrestling and it is extremely important to us to enhance that relationship. The backbone of USA Wrestling is its state associations and their members. Being able to help a state association with their state events is a WIN WIN WIN for us, the state and for USA Wrestling.

The state leadership in Ohio is very pleased about winning the mat, and has already begun making plans for its use.

“I think it will be a great thing for Ohio,” said USA Wrestling - Ohio state chairperson Chris Kallai. “This is a first-of-its-kind mat, which will be real cool. We will put it in a trailer and if anybody wants to use it for one of our qualifiers, we will let them use it. I want everybody to benefit from it throughout the state of Ohio. I had all of my coaches sign up for the drawing, and we are very excited that we were selected.”

The donation continues a longtime commitment by Dollamur to assist USA Wrestling in achieving its mission and improving the sport of wrestling.

“USA Wrestling is proud to work with a corporate partner that shares our passion and commitment to support wrestling on the state and local levels. We are grateful that Dollamur has donated this mat, which will certainly help wrestling in the state of Ohio,” said Rich Bender, Executive Director of USA Wrestling.

The mat breaks down to seven sections, each which weigh about 100 pounds. It is fastened with a Velcro system, which allows it to be assembled easily, yet can not be pulled apart when used for wrestling. It also eliminates the need for mat tape, which can be costly for teams and can also be messy when it is applied and taken off the mat.

“It is a cleaner mat, a more sanitary mat and it’s easier to set up and tear down,” said Miller.

The development of the Flexi-Connect mat fits with the goals which Miller set when he became part of the Dollamur team. According to Miller, his goals are to make a safer mat, provide the best possible customer relations and to continue to innovate and improve their products.

Dollamur has begun its marketing of the Flexi-Connect mat to the wrestling community.
