California wins Cadet National Greco-Roman Duals, beating Indiana 35-19

CALIFORNIA WINS CADET GRECO-ROMAN NATIONAL DUALS, DEFEATING INDIANA IN THE FINALS, 35-19. 

California defeated Indiana 35-19 to claim the team title at the 2000 Cadet National Greco-Roman Duals, held in Pueblo, Colo., June 9.

California won the first five matches of the gold-medal dual meet, and never trailed. Nine California wrestlers won matches in the final dual, including pins by Jesse Contreras at 83.5 pounds, Derek Moore at 94.5 pounds and Gabe Flores at 103.5 pounds. Scoring technical falls for California were Danny Cadwallader at 132 pounds, Steve Gee at 143 pounds and Anthony Rubcababa at 182.5 pounds.

Kansas placed third, with a 31-20 win over Utah in the bronze-medal dual. Ohio was fifth, beating Iowa 28-25. Nine teams participated in the first ever Cadet Greco-Roman Duals. The freestyle competition will be held June 10-11.
