Final five U.S. women freestylers receive draws for Cadet Worlds in Hungary

SZOMBATHELY, Hungary – The final five U.S. women’s freestyle wrestlers have weighed in and received their draws for Friday’s competition at the FILA Cadet World Championships.

All five of the U.S. women competing on Friday were Body Bar FILA Cadet Nationals champions in Kissimmee, Fla. this year.

Haley Augello of Illinois, who is competing at 46 kg/101.25 lbs., won her second straight Junior Nationals title in Fargo, N.D. this summer. She will face Nazgul Nurakhan of Kazakhstan in her opening bout.

At 70 kg/154 lbs., Mary Westman of New York will open against Zsanett Nemeth of Hungary tomorrow. Westman was a Junior Nationals runner-up in Fargo this summer.

Marina Doi of Kingsburg, Calif. will compete against Umut Nuraly Kyzy of Kyrgyzstan in her first match at 40 kg/88 lbs. Doi was a Cadet Nationals champion in Fargo in July, and also won a Pan American Cadet title this year.

The other two U.S. competitors on Friday are Rachel McFarland of DeWitt, Mich. at 52 kg/114.5 lbs. and Katie Germain of Lakeland, Fla. at 60 kg/132.25 lbs.

McFarland will face Risako Kawai of Japan in her first match. Germain drew Asli Togcu of Turkey in the first round.

Coaching the women’s team is Donny Stephens of West Covina, Calif. along with USOEC Women’s Assistant Coach Tony DeAnda of Marquette, Mich.

Friday is the final day of competition in the women’s division. The Greco-Roman competition will be held on Saturday and Sunday.
