The United States has sent teams in all three Olympic styles to compete at the Pan American Cadet Championships in Campeche, Mexico this weekend.

FILA Cadets are athletes who are 15-17 years old. Many of the nation’s top high school wrestlers compete at this level. The U.S. teams include a number of very successful young stars.

Greco-Roman competition will be held on Friday, August 5. Women’s freestyle is set for Saturday, August 6. Men’s freestyle is set for Sunday, August 7.

A number of the U.S. men’s wrestlers will compete in both the freestyle and Greco-Roman competitions.

Adam Coon of Michigan was a FILA Cadet Nationals champion in both styles and will compete at 100 kg. Coon also won Cadet Nationals in Greco-Roman and was third in freestyle in Fargo this summer.

Athletes on the U.S. roster who were runners-up at the FILA Cadet Nationals in at least one style were Ethan Koan of Missouri at 42 kg, Grant LaMont of Utah at 63 kg and Eric Hoffman of Maryland at 69 kg.

Junior Nationals All-Americans on the Pan Am team include Anthony Ashnault of New Jersey at 58 kg and Tommy Pawlewski of Illinois at 46 kg.

A training camp for the men’s teams was held in Chicago prior to their departure for Mexico this week.

The women’s freestyle team features athletes who have been All-Americans at USA Wrestling national events this year on the Cadet, FILA Cadet and Junior levels.

FILA Cadet National champions on the team include Marina Doi of California at 40 kg, and FILA Cadet National runners-up were Amy Hou of Georgia at 46 kg, Hanna Grisewood of New York at 52 kg and Rosemary Flores of New York at 60 kg.

Flores won gold medals at both the Cadet Nationals and Junior Nationals in Fargo this summer. Others on the team who were All-Americans in Fargo either as Cadets or Juniors were Grisewood and Hou along with Devyn Johnson of Minnesota at 43 kg, Jenna Brennan of Massachusetts at 56 kg and Brittany Harvey of Michigan at 70 kg.
