Final four U.S. women weigh in and get draws for Junior Worlds in Romania

BUCHAREST, Romania – The final four U.S. women’s freestyle athletes have weighed in and received their draws for the 2011 FILA Junior World Championships. They will compete on Friday.

Two-time Junior World Champion Victoria Anthony (Huntington Beach, Calif./New York AC) returns at 48 kg/105.5 lbs., seeking an unprecedented third straight Junior World title. Anthony is on her fourth Junior World team, after also placing fifth at the 2008 Junior World Championships.

Anthony opens against Victoria Jeppson of Sweden.

Two-time Junior World bronze medalist Helen Maroulis (Rockville, Md./New York AC), like Anthony, will be wrestling in her fourth Junior World Championships. Her first opponent will be Tetyana Kit of Ukraine.

The other two U.S. wrestlers will be competing in their first Junior World Championships.

At 63 kg/138.75 lbs., Alli Ragan (Carbondale, Ill./New York AC/King College) opens against Sakshi Malik of India.

At 72 kg/158.5 lbs., Anneliese DeAragon (Sandpoint, Idaho/New York AC/USOEC) draws Davaatseren Buyanjargal of Mongolia.

Team USA is tied for third in the standings after the first day, winning a pair of medals on Thursday.

The USA is looking to improve on its sixth-place finish in women’s freestyle at the 2010 Junior World Championships in Budapest, Hungary.
