FARGO, N.D. – Wrestlers in the smallest three weight classes will look to keep their USA Wrestling Triple Crown hopes alive on Monday afternoon.

Illinois’ Jabari Moody (84 pounds), Minnesota’s Gannon Volk (91) and Oregon’s Ronnie Bresser (98) advanced to the Cadet Nationals Greco-Roman finals on Monday at the FargoDome.

Each of those wrestlers won Cadet Nationals Folkstyle titles earlier this year in Cedar Falls, Iowa. Those wrestlers would need to win Greco-Roman and freestyle titles this week in Fargo to capture a coveted Triple Crown. Bresser won Cadet Nationals in freestyle last year.

The finals are set for 2 p.m. Monday in Fargo.

2010 Cadet Triple Crown winner Mitch Sliga looked strong in reaching the finals at 189. Sliga has a chance to repeat his Fargo double in Greco and freestyle from last year. He placed fourth in Cadet Folkstyle Nationals earlier this year.

Returning Cadet Greco champions Joseph McKenna of New Jersey (112) and Hayden Tuma of Idaho (130) will have a chance to repeat after reaching the finals on Monday morning. McKenna was a champion at 98 pounds in 2010. Tuma was a champion at 119 last year.

Pennsylvania’s Chance Marsteller (152) continued to dominate en route to the final round. Marsteller, who recently spent time at the U.S. Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs, won Cadet Nationals in freestyle last year and placed fourth in Greco.

This is Day 3 of 8 at the ASICS/Vaughan Junior and Cadet Nationals, which are being held on 23 mats at the FargoDome on the campus of North Dakota State University. Cadets feature the nation’s top 15-16 year olds.

The Junior Greco-Roman competition kicked off on Monday morning in Fargo. Juniors feature the nation’s top 16-18 year olds.

Junior Greco-Roman competition will resume at 6 p.m. Monday. The Junior Greco finals are set for 2 p.m. Tuesday.
