Colorado memorial for Lindsey Durlacher at U.S. Olympic Training Center on July 8

A memorial celebrating of the life of Lindsey Durlacher will be held at the U.S. Olympic Training Center (USOTC) in Colorado Springs, Colo., Friday, July 8.

The program will begin at 2:00 p.m. Mountain Time at the West Wing Conference Center on the USOTC campus.

The Durlacher family will participate in the memorial, as well as those who knew Lindsey from USA Wrestling, the U.S. Olympic Committee and the local community.

This provides an opportunity for those who were unable to attend the memorial service for Durlacher in Buffalo Grove, Ill. on June 9 to get together and share their thoughts and memories about Lindsey.

Durlacher, 36, passed away unexpectedly in his sleep in Denver, Colo. on June 4.

Durlacher was a World bronze medalist in Greco-Roman wrestling at 55 kg/121 lbs. at the 2006 World Championships in Guangzhou, China. He placed fifth at the 2007 World Championships in Baku, Azerbaijan, helping lead the United States to its first-ever World Team Title in Greco-Roman wrestling. He was also a member of the 2005 U.S. World Team.

He lived in Colorado Springs for a number of years as a U.S. Olympic Training Center resident athlete. For the last year, Durlacher worked as a resident coach at the RiNo Sport Galleri in Denver.

Durlacher was a high school state wrestling champion in Illinois and Wisconsin, and a NCAA runner-up in college for the Univ. of Illinois. He also served on the coaching staff at the University of Illinois, the U.S. Naval Academy, Northwestern University and Northern Illinois University.

The memorial is open to anyone and everyone who wish to honor the life of an amazing athlete and tremendous person who touched the lives of so many.
