Today is the final day to preregister for the 2011 Southern Plains Regional Championships.

Online registration closes tonight (Tuesday, May 31) at 11:59 PM Central Time. Registration will be available on-site, but there is a $25 on-site registration fee so all wrestlers are encouraged to register online.

In the Cadet and Junior divisions, there are wrestlers from 13 states already signed up to compete, including wrestlers from Minnesota, Wisconsin, Iowa, and Illinois.

Kids and Cadet coaches at this event must have their current USA Wrestling coaches membership card and be a minimum COPPER certified. Junior coaches at this event must have their current USA Wrestling membership card and be a minimum BRONZE certified.

This event features freestyle and Greco-Roman competition for all of the age groups listed below. Wrestlers that compete in BOTH styles only have to weigh-in for the first style they compete in.

Bantam: 2003-2004
Intermediate: 2001-2002
Novice: 1999-2000
Schoolboy: 1997-1998
Cadet: 1995-1996
Junior: 9/1/91 and after plus enrolled in grades 9-12
Girls: 9/1/91-12/31/2004-freestyle only

All Intermediate, Novice, and Schoolboy wrestlers in this event must reside in a Southern Plains Region state, which are Colorado, New Mexico, Kansas, Oklahoma, Texas, Missouri, and Arkansas. All participants in these age groups qualify for the 2011 ASICS Kids Freestyle & Greco-Roman National Championships in Farmington, Utah, June 27-29.

The Bantam, Girls, Cadet, and Junior divisions are open to wrestlers from any state. In the Cadet and Junior divisions, the top three (3) place winners in each age group and style qualify for your state’s team above the state limit for the 2011 ASICS/Vaughan Junior & Cadet Nationals in Fargo, North Dakota, July 15-23. Cadet and Junior divisions are open to wrestlers from all states.
