When Gary Ervin found out he was going to be one of the contestants on the CBS reality television show, The Amazing Race, he knew exactly why they'd been selected.
Ervin, an assistant high school wrestling coach at Union County High School in Kentucky, joined his daughter Mallory, the 2009 Miss Kentucky and Miss America runner-up, in the race last year. The duo was eliminated in the eighth week of the show, but got a second chance to come back for this past season, which completed its airings on CBS on Sunday.
Jason Bryant of USA Wrestling talked to Ervin, a Central Missouri alum and former graduate assistant wrestling coach in Warrensburg, about the the entire two seasons and how deeply-rooted wrestling is within the Ervin family -- even for Mallory.
