AKRON, Ohio – Jordan Rogers is just a junior in high school.

But his wrestling talents are turning him into a World traveler.

The standout from Washington earned another overseas trip after winning a FILA Cadet Nationals title in Greco-Roman wrestling on Thursday at the University of Akron.

Rogers beat Georgia’s Glenn Climmons 4-0, 2-0 in the finals at 76 kg/167.5 lbs. Climmons was third in Cadet Nationals in Greco-Roman last year and won a Cadet Nationals title in freestyle.

Rogers was named Outstanding Wrestler.

Champions in each weight class in Akron, with the exception of 125.5 kg kg/275.5 lbs., qualify for the FILA Cadet World Championships in Szombethely, Hungary, on Aug. 25-28.

FILA Cadets are athletes who are 15-17 years old.

Rogers won Cadet Nationals in Greco-Roman and freestyle in 2010 before placing second in the Youth Olympic Games last year in Singapore. Rogers plans to try and add a FILA Cadet Nationals title in freestyle this weekend.

Rogers was one of five champions crowned Thursday who won Cadet Nationals titles in Greco-Roman last summer in Fargo, N.D. The other members of that group include Florida's Dylan Lucas, Idaho's Hayden Tuma, Wisconsin's Ryan Gartner and Michigan's Adam Coon.

Tuma beat Zane Richards of Illinois 4-1, 3-1 in the finals at 58 kg/127.75 lbs. Richards also won a Cadet Nationals Greco-Roman title last year.

The FILA Cadet Nationals freestyle competition is set for Friday and Saturday in Akron.
