CEDAR FALLS, Iowa - Champions were crowned in four KIDS divisions (Schoolboy/girl, Novice, Intermediate, Bantam) as well as the Veterans division on the final day of the USA Wrestling ASICS Folkstyle National Championships on Sunday. The 2011 event set a record for total entries with 2,343 participants, with competition at a very high level, as many athletes with past national achievements were entered. “In the Junior and Cadet divisions, the numbers were up and the quality was spectacular,†said USA Wrestling National Events Director Pete Isais. “This has developed into a great event on all age levels and keeps getting better. This is an important part of our national event series, and is the big kickoff for the USA Wrestling Triple Crown program.†There was an increase in total athletes by 116, from 2,277 last year, to the 2,343 this year.
