World silver medalist Jake Herbert headlines the list of No. 1 pre-seeds for the 2011 U.S. Open in freestyle wrestling. Herbert won a silver medal at the 2009 World Championships at 84 kg/185 lbs. He made his second World Team last year. The Senior-level portion of the U.S. Open is scheduled for April 8-9 at Public Hall in Cleveland, Ohio. The top eight seeds in each weight class will not compete until Saturday, April 9. The top seven finishers in each weight class at the U.S. Open will qualify for June’s U.S. World Team Trials in Oklahoma City. A qualifying tournament for the U.S. Nationals will be held on Friday, April 8 in the freestyle weight classes with 20 or more wrestlers entered. The top eight finishers in the qualifying tournament will join the top eight seeds in the final day of the U.S. Nationals on Saturday, April 9. Registration closes on Tuesday.
