Julia Salata (Canton, Mich./Advantage Wrestling) has been named TheMat.com Wrestler of the Week for March 22-28.

Each week, TheMat.com will select an Athlete of the Week, based upon performance within wrestling for that week. The selection committee will consider any level of wrestling, from youth programs through the Senior level.

Michigan’s Salata won a highly competitive Junior 159-pound division in dominating fashion at the USA Wrestling Girls Folkstyle Nationals on Saturday at Oklahoma City University in Oklahoma City, Okla.

Salata, who has won the Junior Nationals in freestyle the last two years, won by major decision over Savanna Nickols of the Arcata Bad Boys 15-1 in the finals. 

Salata won her opening match by major decision over 2010 Junior Nationals freestyle champion Kim Spiegel of the USOEC, and scored a technical fall in the semifinals over 2010 Girls Junior Folkstyle champion Britnee Barbosa of Team Texas.
