KEARNEY, Neb. – Coach Mike Denney enters his 32nd NCAA Division II Championships with another powerhouse team for the University of Nebraska at Omaha.
The Mavericks are ranked No. 1. UNO is seeking its seventh national title under Denney, a Hall of Famer. The Mavs have won the last two team titles and five of the last seven.
The two-day tournament kicks off Friday morning at 11 at the University of Nebraska at Kearney. The finals are set for Saturday night at 7.
UNO returns NCAA runner-up finishers in Mario Morgan (141 pounds), Esai Dominguez (149) and George Ivanov (157), along with third-place finisher Ryan Pankoke (174). Aaron Denson (184) was an NCAA runner-up two years ago.
The Mavericks won the National Duals earlier this season.
Denney sat down and talked about the tournament on Thursday night in Kearney.
