EVENT: LIVE WRESTLING DEMONSTRATION TO SPOTLIGHT UPCOMING NCAA CHAMPIONSHIPS IN PHILADELPHIA
NEW BEAT THE STREETS PROGRAMS TO PROVIDE INCREDIBLE OPPORTUNITIES FOR INNER-CITY YOUTHS
DATE: Thursday, March 10 at 12 p.m. (lunchtime)
PLACE: The Shops at Liberty Place, 17th and Chestnut Streets, Philadelphia, PA
DETAILS: In anticipation of the upcoming NCAA Division I Wrestling Championships coming to Philadelphia at the Wells Fargo Center (March 17-19), Beat the Streets, a non-profit organization which provides opportunities for inner city youths to wrestle, sponsors live demonstration featuring students from the Wissahickon Charter School of Philadelphia.
University of Pennsylvania assistant wrestling coach Matt Valenti, a three-time NCAA All-American and two-time NCAA Champion, will conduct the free clinic for Beat the Street participants. The Beat the Streets program hopes to use this event to increase participation.
Over 400 student-athletes from eight youth programs and three high schools participate in Beat the Streets in Philadelphia. Beat the Streets hopes to increase these numbers with the success of the upcoming NCAA Division I Wrestling Championships at the Wells Fargo Center from Thursday, March 17 through Saturday, March 19. Tickets to the NCAA Division I Wrestling Championships are sold out.
