Jamal Parks (Tulsa, Okla./Oklahoma State University) has been named TheMat.com Wrestler of the Week for Feb. 8-14.

Each week, TheMat.com will select an Athlete of the Week, based upon performance within wrestling for that week. The selection committee will consider any level of wrestling, from youth programs through the Senior level.

Parks, ranked seventh, defeated No. 3 Jason Chamberlain 3-1 in overtime at 149 pounds to lead No. 4 Oklahoma State to a 28-6 win over No. 8 Boise State this past Friday.

It was Chamberlain’s first loss in 22 matches this season. Chamberlain placed fifth at the 2010 Junior World Championships in freestyle.

Parks, a junior, followed with a 6-1 win over No. 20 Cole Dallaserra in OSU’s 34-3 win over Wyoming on Sunday.

Parks is 21-3 this season. He was a Big 12 champion in 2010. He fell one win short of becoming an All-American last season at 141.
