Montell Marion (Des Moines, Iowa/University of Iowa) has been named TheMat.com Wrestler of the Week for Jan. 25-31.

Each week, TheMat.com will select an Athlete of the Week, based upon performance within wrestling for that week. The selection committee will consider any level of wrestling, from youth programs through the Senior level.

Marion, an NCAA runner-up in 2010, returned to the Iowa lineup in a big way as he led the No. 8 Hawkeyes to a 22-13 win at No. 1 Penn State on Sunday in University Park, Pa.

Marion fell behind 5-0 against No. 5 Andrew Alton before Marion stormed back to win 11-9 at 141 pounds. That gave Iowa a 12-0 lead after teammates Matt McDonough (125) and Tony Ramos (133) earned wins to start the dual.

Marion, a junior, was wrestling in his first dual meet of the season.

Iowa extended its unbeaten streak to 73 matches with the win.
