PUEBLO, Colo. (GoThunderWolves.com - Jan. 26, 2011) - Needing a win in at least one of the final two matches, CSU-Pueblo got caught Wednesday night in a near upset-bid, watching as a 13-13 tie with two matches remaining ended up breaking for the 13th-ranked Lopers from Grand Canyon, 24-13.

The loss drops the RMAC's dual record to 0-4 this season.

CSU-Pueblo was trading blows with Grand Canyon, getting wins in tight matches. After a 15-3 major decision win by Jacob Snider (Fr., Parker, Colo.), the Pack got wins from Justin Grant (Sr., Winnemucca, Nev.) at 165 pounds and another by Trevor Grant (RFr., Winnemucca, Nev.) at 174 pounds by 4-0 and 5-2 decisions, respectively.

The most exciting match of the night from the ThunderWolves' perspective was the heavyweight bout, where Patrick Carey (Sr., Tempe, Ariz.) was able to get in the head of his opponent, Peter Anguiano, after driving him into the stands. Anguiano lost his composure and eventually got caught on his back, leading to a Carey takedown and near fall and setting the stage for Carey's 6-1 win.

But it was the 125 pound match that hurt, as Lyle Evans (Sr., Grantsville, Utah) got caught in his back and was pinned by Madison Gambrell, the first and only pin by either team, which was the deal-breaker for the Pack's upset bid.

CSU-Pueblo will travel to Colorado Mines Friday for another RMAC dual, this time with the Orediggers, before taking part in the Colorado Mines open Saturday.
