The third leg of the Folkstyle Tour of America, the 2011 Georgia Grind, will be on Sunday, February 13 at South Paulding High School in Douglasville, Georgia, just west of Atlanta.

The Georgia Grind has become a premier folkstyle event in the southeast, which attracts top competitors from across the nation. Last year, the event featured nearly 400 wrestlers from 19 states. This year the numbers are expected to reach 700.

The 2011 Georgia Grind will feature folkstyle action for Bantams (2003-2005), Intermediates 2001-2002), Novices (1999-2000), and Middle School wrestlers (1996-1998 plus currently enrolled in grades 6-8).

There will also be True Beginner divisions available for all age groups. True Beginners will be placed in 4-man round robins with wrestlers of similar age and weight, and are defined as having competed in the sport for less than two years and never placed in a state folkstyle event or any regional or national event.

USA Wrestling does not charge wrestlers to change their weight class, even at weigh-ins. There is a cap of 300 True Beginner wrestlers, and 600 regular division wrestlers; wrestlers are encouraged to sign up as soon as possible to guarantee their spot in the event.

New this year for the Folkstyle Tour of America is All-American Wrestling Supply’s Coaches Rewards Program. For every 5 wrestlers from a club at the event, the coach will receive a $10 gift card to All-American Wrestling Supply.

The competition for the Georgia Grind takes place on Sunday, February 13th, with weigh-ins on Saturday, February 12th. However, wrestlers have the opportunity to compete in two folkstyle events in the same weekend, as competition for the South Paulding Junior Spartan Challenge takes place on Saturday, February 12th in South Paulding High School. Wrestlers that weigh-in Saturday morning for the Junior Spartan Challenge will not have to weigh-in again for the Georgia Grind.

This event scores points for the Ultimate Challenge Series.
