USA Wrestling receives USOC NGB Marketing Award for third straight year

For the third year in a row, USA Wrestling received a NGB Marketing Award from the U.S. Olympic Committee. The award recognizes National Governing bodies that had the most unique and creative marketing initiatives for the past year.
“We must be doing something right,†said Larry Nugent, USA Wrestling’s Director of Development. “The Olympic movement is universally respected which makes it easy to put programs in place that are unique and creative.â€
USA Wrestling received the award after becoming the leading wrestling partner to Liberty Mutual’s Responsible Sports program. Liberty Mutual is the official insurance partner of USA Wrestling.
The Responsible Sports program is an online community that promotes and celebrates responsible sports parenting and youth coaching. The program also offers an online survey tool that evaluates programs and gives anonymous feedback.
The site also features tips, tools, podcasts, videos and coursework for coaches, administrators and parents. The program also offers community grants which are awarded to 20 youth sport organizations twice a year.
“It’s everything we profess to be. Responsibility is one of the themes that USA Wrestling espouses, so responsible sports are a perfect match,†Nugent said.
A number of leading sports organizations have become Responsible Sports partners. USA Wrestling became the second NGB to participate in the program, joining USA Hockey.
