Conder, a 2007 Junior World champion, was defeated in the gold-medal match by 2006 World silver medalist Maria Ivanova of Belarus, 1-0, 1-0. Conder won three matches to reach the finals including a clutch victory over Angela Dorogan of Azerbaijan in the semifinals, 4-0, 0-1, 4-1. Lampe had a 4-1 record in the tournament, including a victory over Timashkova of Russia, 2-0, 0-3, 1-0 in the bronze-medal match. Lampe’s only loss was to eventual champion Maria Ivanova of Belarus. Lampe was wrestling up one weight class from her usual division. She was a member of the 2010 U.S. World Team at 48 kg/105.5 lbs. Padilla, a two-time World bronze medalist, was also wrestling up from her normal weight division which is 55 kg/121 lbs. Her only loss came in the semifinals to 2008 University World champion Zhargalma Tsyrenova of Russia, 3-0, 2-4, 0-1. “The women competed very hard today but we did not stick to our focus areas very well. We need to be more consistent on how we are wrestling. It is hard to win big matches if we don't force our areas of wrestling,†said National Women’s Coach Terry Steiner The three non-Olympic weights, 51 kg, 59 kg and 67 kg, were contested on Sunday, Dec. 5. The four Olympic weights were held on Saturday. Over the two day event, the United States had five medals.
