31st Annual ASICS Junior National Championships Bronze Certification Course For the National Coaches Education Program Sponsored by USA Wrestling Fargo, North Dakota: July 21st-- July 23rd USA Wrestling will host a Bronze Certification Course starting Saturday, July 21st at the Fargo Dome in room LR 138/139. Check-in for the course will be at 10:45 a.m. On Sunday, July 22nd and Monday, July 23rd there will be one session a day to complete the instruction. The Bronze course is scheduled to be clear of conflicting times with tournament matches. This course is a perfect opportunity for coaches to upgrade their Copper certification to the Bronze level. Completing the Bronze Level Course affords coaches the opportunity to coach at state, regional, and national USA Wrestling events. USA Wrestling members who want to coach on the floor at State, Regional, and National Championships must be at least Copper Certified. (Coaches can take the Bronze course without having completed the Copper course.) The cost of the course is $50 ($75 without Coaches Membership Card) and can be completed by attending the clinic, and then finishing the course with self study using the Coach's Guide to Excellence, internet study through TheMat.com, and then completing an open book test. Additionally, graduate credit of through Northern Michigan University is available. For completing the Bronze course ½ credit is available, two credits are available at the Silver Level, and 2 more credits are available at the Gold Level. The National Coaches Education Program (NCEP) certified over 1,100 coaches nationally last year. USA Wrestling's Coaches Education Program is designed to give coaches a foundation of successful coaching principles to help grow the base of amateur wrestling throughout the country. If you're an active wrestling coach, you need to get NCEP certified! By completing the certification process at the Bronze Level, you will receive the Bronze Certified Card, and Certificate allowing you to coach at USA Wrestling events across the country. Also, you will receive for future reference the Coach's Guide to Excellence, a $30 value. Finally, as an added bonus for completing the Bronze level, you will receive the official Bronze Certified Coach's shirt, a $25 value. Coaches who are Bronze certified are leaders in the wrestling community and are then encouraged to pursue further education through NCEP by completing the Silver and Gold levels. Once, a coach is Bronze certified he/she can attend the National Coaches Colleges held annually. The Coaches College is a five-day intensive study of the sport of wrestling. This past year, two of USA Wrestling's Olympic Coaches completed their Silver Certification. National Greco-Roman Coach and former Olympic Gold Medallist Steve Fraser and Head Greco-Roman Olympic Coach Dan Chandler took the steps to become NCEP certified at the Silver level. USA Wrestling encourages all active wrestling coaches to take the lead in building the sport of wrestling and attend a Bronze-Certification course soon!
