Drexel wrestling head coach Jack Childs, the active leader in Division I coaching victories, has announced the 2010-11 season will be his last. Childs is in his 35th season as the Drexel Wrestling Head Coach. He has 414 Division I victories and has amassed 505 wins at all levels of NCAA competition during his time at Stevens Tech and Drexel.

At Drexel, Childs has post an impressive record of 414-254-9. Last season, Childs recorded his landmark 500th career collegiate coaching victory as he led the Dragons to a win over conference foe George Mason. On April 22, 2006, Childs was inducted into the National Wrestling Hall of Fame in Stillwater, Okla. as a Lifetime Achievement Award recipient. His contributions to the sport were also recognized when he was inducted into the Pennsylvania Wrestling Hall of Fame. Most recently, Childs was inducted to the Stevens Tech Athletic Hall of Fame in October of 2008.

Childs will have his final home season-opener on Nov. 6 against Campbell. The 2:00 p.m. match is also Alumni and Family Day at the Daskalakis Athletic Center as all Drexel alumni and family are encouraged to attend. The coaching legend will make his final appearance at the DAC on Feb. 20 when the Dragons will host Rutgers at 1:00 p.m. Childs’ final coaching action will take place at Philadelphia’s Wells Fargo Center where the 2010-11 NCAA Wrestling Championships will be held starting March 17. Drexel Athletics will also have an event at the conclusion of the season celebrating Coach Childs’ legacy at the University. Details of the event will be coming in the next few months.
