TheMat.com caught up with two members of the U.S. University World Team in men’s freestyle wrestling, which will compete in Torino, Italy, Oct. 26-27.
TheMat.com interviewed Angel Escobedo (Colorado Springs, Colo./New York AC), who will compete at 55 kg/121 lbs. at the University Worlds.
Escobedo, a past NCAA champion at Indiana, is currently ranked No. 2 in the USA on the Senior level in men’s freestyle. He was a member of the 2007 U.S. Junior World Team.
Also interviewed was Marty Usman (Colorado Springs, Colo./GRIT Athletics), who will compete at 84 kg/185 lbs. at the University World Championships. He was a Div. II national champion at Nebraska-Kearney in 2010.
Both Escobedo and Usman are scheduled to compete in Torino on Tuesday, October 26.
TheMat.com also interviewed newly appointed USA Wrestling National Freestyle Developmental Coach Bill Zadick, who discussed the 2010 U.S. University World Freestyle Team, the importance of the event to the development of U.S. freestyle wrestling and other topics concerning his new job assignment.
