UPDATED: Saylor, Hipps, Smith, Goldman pick most World champions among international journalists

Four U.S. journalists picked 11 of the 21 World champions to win the annual prediction contest among international journalists, which is posted each year on TheMat.com.

Selecting 11 champions were Willie Saylor of The Open Mat, Andrew Hipps of InterMat and Earl B. Smith of D1collegewrestling.net and Eddie Goldman of No Holds Barred. It was the second year in a row which Hipps was tied in first for the most correct selections.

Saylor selected five women’s champions (Sakamoto, Yoshida, Icho, Dugrenier, Zlateva), three men’s freestyle champions (Kudukhov, Tsargush, Makhov) and three Greco-Roman champions (Sorian, Vachadze, Lopez).

Hipps selected five women’s champions (Sakamoto, Yoshida, Icho, Dugrenier, Zlateva), three men’s freestyle champions (Kudukhov, Tsargush, Makhov) and three Greco-Roman champions (Vachadze, Aliakbar, Lopez).

Smith selected five women’s champions (Sakamoto, Yoshida, Icho, Dugrenier, Zlateva), four men’s freestyle champions (Lebedev, Kudukhov, Tsargush, Makhov) and two Greco-Roman champions (Sorian, Lopez).

Goldman selected four women's champions (Sakamoto, Yoshida, Icho, Dugrenier), four men's freestyle champions (Lebedev, Kudukhov, Tsargush, Makhov) and three Greco-Roman champions (Sorian, Aliyev, Lopez).

Placing second with 10 correct selections were three journalists: Ali Feizasa of the Iranian Students News Agency in Iran, Ikuo Higuchi of the Japan Amateur Wrestling Federation in Japan, Byambaa Tsaganbaatar of the Tavan Tsagarig newspaper in Mongolia 

A total of 17 journalists participated in this year's predictions.
