COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Mack Lewnes and Raymond Jordan are two of the top young freestyle prospects in the United States.

Lewnes and Jordan will battle for the final spot on the United States University World Team during a Wrestle-Off on Friday at the U.S. Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs.

Lewnes and Jordan will meet in a best-of-3 series at 84 kg/185 lbs. The winner will advance to the University World Championships on Oct. 26-30 in Turin, Italy.

The Lewnes-Jordan matches will be held in the OTC's Sports Center II, in the gymnasium above the wrestling room.

The first match is scheduled for 1:30 p.m. on Friday with the second match set for 2:15. The third match, if necessary, would be at 3:15.

“I look forward to seeing Lewnes and Jordan wrestle,” U.S. National Coach Zeke Jones said. “They are bright rising stars for the American program and the World will start to hear more about them on the international circuit. Raymond has really made a jump up over the last several months, and I think Mack’s freestyle skills are progressing nicely. They both continue to study the international style of wrestling and so I think they will be primed to medal when the Worlds come around. This will be their first test to standing on the podium in Italy.”

Quentin Wright won the University World Team Trials earlier this year, but elected to give up his spot on the team as he prepares for the upcoming college season at Penn State. He was an All-American for the Nittany Lions in 2009.

Lewnes, from Annapolis, Md., was an NCAA runner-up for Cornell in 2010 at 174 pounds. He has one year of college eligibility left.

Jordan (Tempe, Arizona/Sunkist Kids) placed third in the NCAAs for Missouri as a senior in 2009 at 174. Jordan has placed in seven tournaments this season in freestyle.
