FARGO, N.D. – There has only been one USA Wrestling Triple Crown winner in the Junior division.

Montana’s Jade Rauser pulled off the hat trick last year by winning Junior Nationals titles in Folkstyle, Greco-Roman and Freestyle.

Rauser may have a little company this year.

Three wrestlers kept their Triple Crown hopes alive by winning Junior Nationals Greco-Roman titles on Tuesday afternoon at the FargoDome.

Missouri’s Colton Howell (98 pounds), Michigan’s Freddie Rodriguez (105) and Nebraska’s RaVaughn Perkins (152) won Greco-Roman titles on Tuesday. Each won Junior Nationals Folkstyle titles earlier this year in Cedar Falls, Iowa.

Howell pinned Wisconsin’s Jason Munoz in the second period in the finals. Rodriguez swept California’s Vinny Moita in the finals. Perkins downed a tough foe in Wyoming’s Andy McCulley to prevail 2-1, 0-4, 4-0 in the finals.

Perkins repeated as champion in the Junior division.

Minnesota’s Dylan Ness (145) was named Outstanding Wrestler. Ness was dominant with a 6-0, 6-0 finals sweep of Texas’ Andy Rico. Ness is a past Triple Crown winner in Cadets who is headed to the University of Minnesota next season. Ness placed second in Junior Folkstyle Nationals this year.

Ness is the younger brother of 2010 NCAA champion and Hodge Trophy winner Jayson Ness of Minnesota.

Illinois, led by champion Dylan Reel (160), won the team title. Reel outlasted Oklahoma’s Kyle Crutchmer, 1-0, 0-1, 1-1 in the finals.

Wisconsin’s Devin Peterson, a Cadet Triple Crown winner in 2009, downed Minnesota’s Joel Bauman 1-0, 1-1, 1-0 in the finals at 171. Peterson was second at Junior Folkstyle Nationals this year.

Montana’s Val Rauser scored a turn in the final 30 seconds to beat Nathan Kraisser of Maryland 7-0, 0-3, 2-0 in the 119 finals. Rauser was second in Juniors in Greco-Roman and freestyle in 2009. Rauser won Cadet Nationals in Greco-Roman in 2007.

Val Rauser’s twin brother, Jade, who won the Junior Triple Crown last year, is not competing this week after being sidelined with an injury.

New Jersey’s Tyler Fraley won the title at 112. Fraley won Cadet Nationals in Greco-Roman in 2009.

California’s Orry Elor (285) won the title at heavyweight after winning a Cadet Nationals title in Greco-Roman last year.

California’s Lucas Sheridan (189) looked impressive in downing Indiana’s Drake Stein 6-0, 4-0 in the finals. Sheridan wins Junior Nationals after placing third in Cadets in Greco-Roman last year. He was a Cadet runner-up in freestyle in 2009.

Trevor Rupp won an all-Idaho battle in the finals at 215 by earning a 1-0, 1-0 win over Tanner Hall. Rupp, headed to Utah Valley State to wrestle collegiately, is the younger brother of U.S. National Team member Brandon Rupp.

Florida crowned back-to-back champions with Rossi Bruno (125) and Tyler Liberatore (130) reaching the top of the podium on Tuesday.

Kansas’ Taylor Moeder (135) and Iowa’s Elijah Sullivan (140) also won titles.

The ASICS/Vaughan Junior and Cadet Nationals continue on Wednesday with the Cadet Nationals freestyle competition kicking off. The first of two sessions of wrestling is scheduled to start at 9:30 Wednesday morning.

Michigan’s Taylor Massa, who won Cadet Nationals Triple Crowns in 2009 and 2010, placed fourth in the Junior Greco-Roman competition at 152 pounds.
