BAKU, Azerbaijan – World Team members Alyssa Lampe and Elena Pirozhkova earned bronze medals at the Heydar Aliyev Golden Grand Prix in women’s freestyle on Saturday.

Lampe (Colorado Springs, Colo./Sunkist Kids) downed Poland’s Anna Lukasiak to finish third at 48 kg/105.5 lbs. Lampe is scheduled to wrestle in her first World Championships in September in Moscow, Russia.

Pirozhkova (Colorado Springs, Colo./Gator WC) beat Aurora Fajardo of Spain to capture a bronze medal at 63 kg/138.75 lbs. Pirozhkova is making her third straight trip to the World Championships this year.

"We won two medals out of four. Simply, we are capable of so much more," U.S. National Coach Terry Steiner said. "We have 51 days until the start of the Worlds. We have some time, but no time to waste.

"We can win with this group, but we must wrestle a certain way. We must wrestle with an urgency and an attitude that expects to win. The question now is how do we get there?"

Stephany Lee (Colorado Springs, Colo./Sunkist Kids) won her first match before falling in the second round to Burmaa Ochirbat of Mongolia. Ochirbat did not make the finals, knocking Lee out of the tournament at 72 kg/158.5 lbs. Lee made her second World Team this year.

Kelsey Campbell (Colorado Springs, Colo./Sunkist Kids) lost her first-round match to Japan’s Kei Yamana at 59 kg/130 lbs. Campbell will compete in the Worlds for the first time this year.

"We need to learn and continue to grow as wrestlers and human beings," Steiner said. "Our best days are yet to come."
